For artwork, the authenticity of the signature or certificate and the condition of the canvas are what matter most.

01

Excellent

Canvas or medium undamaged, colours still sharp, with a certificate of authenticity (COA) from the artist or gallery where available.

02

Good — Fair Signs of Age

Light signs of age (slight yellowing of the varnish) but no structural damage.

03

Needs Restoration

Visible damage (a small tear, flaking paint) — this MUST be photographed in detail and explained before sale.

💡 Tip for sellers: Include a close-up of the artist's signature and the certificate of authenticity if you have one — those two things do more than anything else to earn an art buyer's trust.
